Use it when

You have app or web screens and need them on a real 3D device with camera moves—for App Store shots, a landing hero, or a short promo—without opening After Effects.

What it does well

• Metal GPU renderer with super sampling; H.264, ProRes 4444, HEVC, PNG frames, and web export on Basic, Standard, and Premium
• Timeline, animation presets, Clay Mode, App Store image export, custom backgrounds/reflections, 3D labels, lens control, landscape—plus a Figma plugin on all three plans
• Standard and Premium: all 30+ devices (phones, laptops, desktops) and 12 months of new mockups. Standard includes Essential Mix and Phone Bundle templates
• Premium adds Mega Multi Device, Laptop & Phone, Web Scroll packs, in-app gallery extras, and 8K export

Skip it when

• You only need a flat iPhone/browser frame in the browser—that is Shots, not this Mac 3D studio
• You need Placeit/Smartmockups lifestyle photography, or Recraft/SVG AI icons
• Basic is phones only, no templates, 6 months of new mockups, and no Multiple Shadows. Laptops/desktops start on Standard
• 8K is Premium-only; 4K and smaller is on every plan. Windows has no native app (macOS 11+). One-time license is not a monthly seat

Fits your workflow

Design in Figma → send via the plugin or export screens → pose the device and timeline in Rotato → export 4K (or 8K on Premium) stills, ProRes, or H.264. Pick Standard if you need laptops. Use Premium when template packs or 8K matter. After the update window, the app still runs; new devices need a renewed license.
